BH Aviation Alpha Lightweight ANR Pilot Headset With Bluetooth

I grabbed a set based mostly on reviews and writeups i found around the web along with a desire to try something other than the "default choice". The only tricky part was no shipping to Australia. Thankfully a friend was coming down for a visit so I could get them that way. Have taken them for a few trips now and i'm super impressed. Very comfortable, audio is clear, ANR works great.

Right out of the box, I was surprised by how lightweight this headset is. Took it on a 2.5-hour training flight today, and honestly, I barely noticed I was wearing it — that’s how comfortable it was. Radio calls came through crystal clear, and cockpit conversation with my CFI was perfectly audible. Fit adjustment was quick and intuitive, and setup took no time at all.

I didn't realize how much I was missing with my old headset. With Alpha, radio calls sound cleaner—less background fuzz, and I don't have to ask ATC to repeat as often. It's not something I thought about before, but after a few lessons, I noticed I was focusing more on flying and less on trying to catch every word.

The active noise cancellation on the Alpha headset completely changed my flying experience. It cuts out engine rumble and wind noise better than I expected, and I can hear ATC loud and clear. Honestly, it feels on par with the Bose A30, but way more affordable.

I use the mix mode to hear both ATC and music from my phone during cruise. The headset also has an auto-ducking mode, so whenever ATC talks, the music fades out on its own. That's a level of polish I didn't expect from a non-mainstream brand.
